We’re growing, and we’re looking for a proactive, people‑focused Account Manager to join our team.

This is a relationship‑driven role where you’ll work closely with our customers, building trust, understanding their goals, and helping them get the most out of their Microsoft ecosystem. You’ll be based at our Preston office, with regular travel to customer sites.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Building genuine, long-term relationships with your clients – becoming their go‑to contact at String.
  • Regularly travelling to customer sites for meetings, reviews, and catch‑ups (travel is a key part of this role)
  • Understanding each customer’s business, challenges, and goals so you can guide them in the right direction.
  • Managing and growing existing accounts through regular check-ins, strategic reviews, and proactive communication.
  • Spotting opportunities to improve a client’s setup -whether it’s modern workplace tools, cloud solutions, security, or AI.
  • Working with our technical, projects, and support teams to make sure clients get a smooth experience end‑to‑end.
  • Preparing quotes, proposals, and renewals with accuracy and clarity.
  • Keeping client information up to date in Dynamics 365 and ensuring activities are properly logged.
  • Following up on incoming new business enquiries and supporting the qualification and handover process.
  • Supporting onboarding for new customers and helping them get off to a great start.
  • Monitoring account health and identifying risks early – before they turn into problems.
  • Handling contract renewals and working with partners (Microsoft, distributors, vendors) where needed.
  • Representing String in a way that reinforces our reputation for being clear, smart, and human.
  • Any additional administrative duties that help keep client relationships running smoothly.

Who you are:

  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys talking to people and understanding how they work.
  • Comfortable managing multiple accounts and staying organised in a fast-moving environment.
  • Curious about technology – especially Microsoft products – and keen to learn more (full training provided).
  • Someone who listens first, asks great questions, and communicates clearly.
  • Confident in handling commercial conversations around renewals, quotes, and opportunities.
  • A team player who works well with technical colleagues and keeps clients in the loop at every step.
  • Ideally 2+ years’ experience in account management, customer success, or a similar role (MSP experience is a bonus but not essential).
